Dunes HOA Lot Used For Post Ian Restoration

Updated: Feb 5, 2023

The North Captiva Dunes HOA lot at 691 Rum Road has been leased temporarily to DRC Emergency Services for the aggregation, chipping and removal of vegetative debris caused by Hurricane Ian. The State of Florida Division of Emergency Management along with DRC failed at securing several other land parcels on the island for this work due to issues with the Florida Department of Environmental Protection. DEP permitted our HOA lot. Our lease with DRC is bringing in funds to the HOA that will more than cover costs for 2022 and 2023 and increase our overall cash reserves. The initial lease is for 60 days starting December 13, 2022, however it is anticipated DCR will renew for additional 30 day time periods. Our agreement with DRC requires them to cover all necessary insurances and hold harmless the HOA from anything that may arise from their activities. Additionally the contract requires DRC to restore the lot to its prior condition or better at the end of their usage. Without the ability to use our lot along with a couple others on the island, the debris process for vegetative would not have started when it did.
